German Armour in Italy

Examples of German armour destroyed in Italy by the troops of 2nd Polish Corps. The Panzerstellung was knocked out by the tanks of 6. Pulk Pancerny "Lwowskich Dzieci" (6th Armoured Regiment "The Children of Lvov", 2nd Armoured Brigade) in the vicinity of Piedimonte San Germano - the pivot of a "Hitler's Line".

The battle for Piedimonte took place shortly after the Monte Cassino fighting ended and the Polish units taking part in capture of Piedimonte were exhausted and decimated in some cases. The one of the Panthers shown was captured almost intact during Metauro river operations by the very same armoured regiment.
