Eduard 75mm Kwk 40 gun tube for Pz.Kpw. IV Ausf. H and J, in turned aluminum for the Tamiya kits in 1/35 scale

by Frank De Sisto

Eduard kit number 34021, 75mm Kwk 40 gun tube for Pz.Kpw. IV Ausf H and J, in turned aluminum for the Tamiya kits in 1/35 scale. Contains a one-piece gun tube with integral muzzle break. Price: $12.95 USD.

This simple but effective accessory is designed specifically for the latest Pz.Kpw. IV kits from Tamiya. It requires that the outermost part of the kit gun tube be cut off, with the resulting area sanded smooth and straight. In doing so there will be a circular hole revealed on the plastic parts, where there is also a step in the tube. Then, after you’ve assembled the gun breech and its outer mantlet/sleeve to the turret, you can fit the Eduard tube.

The gun tube itself is cleanly turned with a rather smooth finish. The muzzle is an integral part and is of the style that has a rounded rear baffle and an oval front baffle. I imagine the gun tube can be used for any other vehicle that has an L/48 type gun tube such as a StuG III or IV, a Jagdpanzer IV L/48, or either DML’s or Italeri’s Pz.Kpw. Ausf. G, H and J kits. Its potential for wide use makes this a handy little item.

Highly recommended.
