Eduard Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf.D. (35767)

by Frank De Sisto

1/35-scale photo-etched brass for the AFV Club kit. Price: $24.95 USD.

As both DML and AFV Club work their way through variations on the Sd.Kfz.251 half-track, Eduard follows directly behind them. In this case this is their second set for an AFV Club kit, the “straight-up-and-down” infantry section carrier.

This set has all of the typical items we’ve come to expect from Eduard such as replacement instrument panel and full-color printed dial faces (which I prefer over monochrome film faces) as well as foot pedals for the driver’s compartment. A new gear-shift lever box and various other detail items finish the area. The remainder of the interior gets rifle racks, MP and MG storage racks, vision block frame details as well as spare block mounts, ammo box racks, radio rack, stowage locker hinges, rear door handles and frames for a canvas foul-weather cover.

The exterior receives new head- and tail-lamp fixtures and mounts, rear fenders and mud flaps, antenna mounts, various hooks and brackets, one-piece, easy-to-assemble tool clamps, external stowage locker details, and finally, a shield for the forward MG34/42 mount.

It’s a concise, well-thought out and easy-to-use set, which will add some fine detail to an already nice kit.

Recommended.
