Eduard sWS with "Goliath", photo-etched brass in 1/35 scale (35710)

by Frank De Sisto

Contains two frets and one small sheet each of printed paper and clear film, plus four pages of instructions. Price: $22.95 USD.

This set starts with parts to detail the driver’s compartment of the un-armored sWS. Items included are: non-skid panels and steps, foot pedels, fire extinguisher racks, MP40 storage rack and windshield wiper details. There is a fold-over part to replace the kit’s front radiator grill, plus hooks, clamps and Notek light mounts for the hood and front fenders.

A replacement shovel head is given along with Eduard’s trademark easy-to-use, one-piece tool clamps. The load-bed gets metal plate and strip details for the side and rear walls, as well as hinge detail for the tail-gate. There are also parts to construct a Notek tail lamp, reflector and license plate holder. The Goliath demolition vehicle gets a new reel for its control wires as well as small panel and hinge details.

While this is a fine set and can certainly be adapted to other versions of the sWS, I was disappointed in the lack of something else Eduard pioneered. There was no masking film for the windshield glass which, if included, would have considerably eased the task of the modeler.

Recommended.
