FirstLook

Voyager has recently released two photo-etched detail sets for 1/48 scale Tamiya armour kits.

The first is VPE 48029 for Tamiya's early version Sturmgeschutz Ausf.G.

The focus of this set is the improvised style side skirts for the lower hull and superstructure. Each of the main armour plates is hung individually by a mounting rod, and these rods are held in place with scale split pins!

Additional details include spare track holder for the rear superstructure, deflector guard for the exhausts, replacement (and in-scale) machine gun armour, smoke discharger mounts, grilles for the rear hull vents and many smaller details.

All of these parts are supplied on three photo-etched sheets plus the delicately rendered machine gun ring mount on its own tiny fret. A narrow plastic tube is also provided for modellers feeling brave enough to create the working split pin mount for the side skirts.

You will need patience and experience working with photo-etched parts for both of these sets, but with care and time, you will have a stunning replica on the table.

Recommended to experienced modellers.

Thanks to Voyager Model for the samples
