This is Tamiya's new 1:48 scale Russian 1.5 ton Cargo Truck Model 1941, A.K.A. GAZ-MM.
I have added the jewel-like Rest Models Quad Maxim gun and scratch built a couple of stowage boxes in the tray, which seems to have been a characteristic of the trucks that carried the quad gun.
Some of the packs are self-made from Kneadatite, while others are from one of Value Gear's excellent 1:48 scale stowage sets.
The Tamiya kit is a very fast build and fits together superbly. It is a versatile subject too, with crossover potential for aircraft modellers.
A detailed Feature Article describing construction, painting and weathering will appear in Issue 97 of Model Military International magazine. My build article will be accompanied by a terrific reference piece on WWII Soviet GAZ trucks by Bruce Culver.
Thanks to Tamiya for the sample
