Hauler has just released a 1/35 scale resin Old Church Bell.

Every now and then a small accessory set appears that instantly sparks ideas for a diorama. Hauler’s 1:35 scale Old Church Bell is one of those releases. It is a simple subject, but it opens the door to a host of possibilities, from war-torn European villages to abandoned churches, memorial scenes or even post-apocalyptic settings.

The set is a conventional casting with eight grey resin parts. The set features an old church bell with mounting detail and surface texture already incorporated. A second, smaller bell is also included.

Casting is clean and sharply defined. The metal straps, bolts and woodgrain all look convincing.

Separate clappers are offered for both bells.

With careful painting and weathering, the bell could represent anything from a centuries-old church relic to a recently damaged battlefield survivor. Rust streaking, oxidised bronze tones and chipped paint effects would all look perfectly at home here. The subject also lends itself beautifully to scenic groundwork, especially when combined with rubble, timber beams or ruined masonry.

Being resin, the usual precautions apply. Take care when removing the casting blocks and lightly clean up the attachment points, but there is nothing here that will trouble anyone with even modest multimedia experience.

In summary, Hauler’s Old Church Bell is a simple accessory with excellent casting quality and plenty of creative possibilities.

For modellers interested in adding individual character and storytelling to their displays, this little set is well worth a look.
