Suddenly out of nowhere we seem to inundated with armoured vehicles based on the Panzer 38T chassis. For decades the only model available in 35th scale was the Italeri 38T and the Hetzer. Several years ago Dragon released a couple of variants of the Hetzer, then Tamiya released the Marder III, and now suddenly everyone is in on it from Eduard to Tri-Star. While the older Italeri variants stand up well considering their age, the newer versions certainly raise the bar when it comes to detail and accuracy, however that doesn’t mean they will not benefit from some dressing up by photo-etched or resin details.

Voyager have come through with a few sets for the Dragon kits and I will be taking a look at a pair of sets for the Pz.38T, in particular, PE 35146 1/35 fenders for 38t tank (For DML38T Series) and PE 35147 1/35 AufklarungsPanzer 38 t mit 20mm KwK 38 (For DML6294).

While the fenders will be able to be used on any of the Dragon series of models, 35147 is designed specifically for the 20mm gunned variant of the tank.

Both sets live up to Voyagers high standards, and the instructions are both thorough, and clearly laid out, with the obligatory spelling mistake or two.

Voyager are certainly creating some fantastic multi media detail sets, and the level of engineering and amount of detail covered in each set is easily on a par with anything else that is available and more often than not the Voyager offering is more thorough as it moves beyond the limitation of only using photo-etched and contains whatever media is necessary to replicate the part in question.

These sets are both very thorough and will definitely improve the model to no end, as no matter how good the injection moulding companies get with the moulding process, there will always be parts that will be greatly enhanced with the use of closer to scale accuracy metal parts.

Highly Recommended

Thanks to Voyager Model for the samples
