ScaleX 3D Printed M142 HIMARS Wheel Set
Scale: 1:35
Item No.: WM35024S

The US M142 HIMARS multiple rocket launcher has become a popular subject for modern armour modellers. Developed in response to Soviet MRLS systems such as the BM-21, BM-27, and BM-30 and their numerous Chinese copies, the American HIMARS stands in a class of its own. In terms of range, accuracy, and lethality, it’s an exceptional system.

The real vehicle can be fitted with various weapon loads and an optional add-on armour kit of bolted plates around the cab—just like those seen on vehicles serving in Ukraine. Until recently, this variant wasn’t available in kit form, as the Trumpeter release depicts the standard unarmoured version. Fortunately, the new Foreart kit delivers an excellent, well-detailed model of the Ukrainian HIMARS.

That kit includes standard 1:35 scale rubber tyres, but for anyone chasing greater realism, ScaleX from Odessa, Ukraine, has the answer with their 3D printed replacement wheel sets. ScaleX offers both standard and sagged (weighted) versions; for this review, we’ve chosen the latter, which perfectly conveys the vehicle’s mass.

The wheels are cleanly printed and easy to remove from their supports—no sawing or sanding off resin blocks. The surface detail is first-rate, capturing fine lettering and a convincing sidewall bulge exactly as seen on the real thing.

In summary, these ScaleX sagged wheel set adds an unmistakable sense of weight and realism to the Foreart Ukrainian HIMARS.

ScaleX Unimog V2 Wheel Set
Scale: 1:35
Item No.: WM35023S

ScaleX’s Unimog V2 wheels—now these are big! The Unimog S 404 has been long awaited in injection-moulded plastic form. While resin versions have existed, resin isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so when ICM released their all-new plastic kit, many modern vehicle modellers were understandably delighted.

This no-frills utility truck has seen global service in countless military and civilian roles. The ICM kit is crisply detailed, as expected, but its wheels can benefit from a 3D-printed upgrade. Once again, ScaleX from Odessa has stepped in with two sets of Unimog wheels: the standard V1 (to be reviewed separately) and the larger, more aggressive V2 version featured here.

The V2 wheels give the ICM Unimog a beefier, more purposeful stance that will turn heads. These oversized tyres have been seen on both military and civilian vehicles, and they lend a distinctive “pimped-up” vibe that’s sure to spark discussion at your local club night.

Whether you choose the standard V1 or the larger V2, ScaleX’s 3D printed Unimog wheels add a welcome boost of authenticity and attitude to this classic off-roader.
