The ChMZAP-5247G trailer offers a wide range of display possibilities. It served in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Iran, Finland and other operators. It was also paired not only with the MAZ-537 and KRAZ-6446 tractors but, in Iranian service, even with US-supplied Mack units. Load options are virtually limitless across the spectrum of Soviet armour: T-54/55s, ARVs, engineering variants and more have all been hauled across the roads and rough tracks of the former Soviet sphere by these heavy steel workhorses.

ScaleX’s 3D-printed 1:35 scale sagged wheels for the ChMZAP-5247G trailer form the second half of a complementary pair of upgrade sets from the Odessa-based wheel and drone specialists. These replacements deliver a noticeable improvement in realism, definition and accuracy over the Trumpeter kit parts, whose flat hub detail and loose fit are well-known frustrations. As with the earlier MAZ-537 wheel set, the Trumpeter wheels tend to wobble or shift during handling, making an upgrade almost essential by today’s standards.

These 3D-printed trailer wheels also drop straight onto the Takom KRAZ-6446-based tank transporter fitted with the same ChMZAP-5247G trailer, giving modellers the option to modernise a significant portion of that kit as well.

ScaleX’s sagged wheels come highly recommended. Paired with a few straightforward updates, they can transform the Trumpeter MAZ and trailer combination into a far more convincing project.

Kozak 2 Sagged Wheel Set

This hard-fighting Ukrainian Kozak 2 MRAP has seen extensive action since the beginning of the Russian invasion. Of the more than 200 vehicles originally produced, over 70 were destroyed or captured in the early stages of the conflict, including several that took part in the critical fighting at Hostomel and Antonov Airport.

The ScaleX 1:35 scale sagged wheel set for ICM’s Kozak 2 provides a full replacement set of front wheels, rear wheels and a single spare. Included in the box are two styles of armoured hub caps, giving the modeller the option of building an early or late version of the Kozak.

ScaleX’s sagged wheels represent a major improvement over the very basic items supplied in the ICM kit. They offer sharper detail, better proportions and a far more convincing sense of weight. These wheels are also suitable for later Kozak variants seen during Ukraine’s recent Kursk incursion, which feature a more streamlined appearance.

With luck, ICM will release these updated versions in due course.
